The Institute of Industrial Engineers is a professional society dedicated to serving the professional needs of industrial engineers.

Student officers lead the OSU IIE chapter, advised by an IE&M faculty member. Our objective is to get students involved in IIE activities so they can meet other students, the faculty, and learn more about the Industrial Engineering profession.

• |
OSU IIE student chapter organized the "Green Belt in
Six Sigma" certification program that is approved
and administered by the national IIE. This is the
first time we have had an event of this type in the
department and the turn-out was excellent. Over 50
undergraduate and graduate students participated and
received their certificates. |

Justin Whisenant placed second in the Undergraduate Student
Paper Competition held during the 2013 IIE South
Central Regional Conference, Feb 7--9, 2013, hosted
by the University of Houston. Justin presented the
paper based on his senior design project with team
members Austin Riggs and Daniel Wilkinson, titled "Webco
Industries, Inc. Steel Coil Optimization."

Austin Buchanan placed first in the IIE
Undergraduate Student Technical Paper Competition at
the IIE Annual Conference and Expo 2012 held at
Orlando, FL where regional winners from 7 US
regions, Mexico, Canada, Central & South America
competed. Austin presented the paper coauthored with
Adrian Smith based on their senior design project,
titled "An Investigation into Instructor Staffing at

Akkarapol Sa-Ngasoongsong placed first
in the Society for Engineering & Management
Systems Student Paper Competition Sponsored by
Transformation Systems, Inc at the IIE Annual
Conference and Expo 2012 held at Orlando, FL.
Akkarapol entered his paper titled "Long-term Demand
Prediction Using Long-run Equilibrium Relationship
of Intrinsic Time-scale Decomposition Components,"
in the competition. He is a doctoral student of Dr.
Satish Bukkapatnam and an officer of the IIE
