How can I get on the OSU Rodeo Team?
Team members are chosen on their ability to perform in the rodeo arena and their consistency to win in collegiate rodeo competition.
Can I still rodeo even if I don't make the OSU Rodeo Team?
Yes! Even if you don't make the team you can rodeo under the name of Oklahoma State University. Everyone who puts on the black vest is considered a team member and a valuable part of our rodeo organization.
Do I have to be a team member to go to the College National Finals Rodeo?
No, the CNFR will take the top two individuals in each event, including all-around, and the top two teams from each of the eleven regions.
What will happen if I don't make the required GPA in school?
The first and foremost reason for attending OSU should be to receive an education. If your grade point average is below a 2.0, you will be ineligible for college rodeo.
Where can I keep my horse?
Stalls are available at the OSU rodeo arena, and there are other stabling facilities located in Stillwater.
Does the rodeo team travel together to the rodeos?
Each contestant is responsible for his or her own travel and accommodations. However, the students are encouraged to travel together to develop the camarederie that is a necessary part of a winning team.
What if I am injured during rodeo competition?
Membership in the N.I.R.A. includes secondary insurance coverage for travel, practice and participation in approved rodeos. OSU will not be responsible for hospital or doctor's fees.
Is the Rodeo Association only for rodeo contestants?
No! The OSU Rodeo Association was formed in 1946 for students who wanted to be a part of an organization that promotes OSU and the winning tradition in and out of the arena. The OSU Rodeo Association has something for everyone.
